Budget alerts notify the relevant people when a project reaches a specified percentage of its budget or budgeted hours. You can create multiple alerts to track budget usage at different stages of a project.

Budget alerts are available when Financial Management is enabled. To learn more about managing project finances, see the Financial Management course in Rocketlane Academy.

Configure project budget alerts

  1. Click your profile icon, then click Settings.
  2. Under Operations and financials, click Financial management.
  3. Make sure Enable financial management is turned on. Budget alerts are unavailable until it is.
  4. Under Project budget alerts, next to Notify via:, select Email, In-App, or Slack. To use Slack, connect the Slack integration first.
  5. In the BUDGET ALERT table, click New alert.
  6. In Notify when the threshold is breached, enter a percentage, for example, 50.
  7. Project owners are always notified through Notify project owners. To also alert the project team, select Notify project team members. To add other users, choose them under Notify others.
  8. Click Create.
NoteCreate several alerts, for example at 50%, 75%, and 90%, to track usage at different stages of the project.

Configure budgeted hours alerts

To alert on budgeted hours, click New alert in the BUDGETED HOURS ALERT table and follow steps 6 to 8 above. The pane is titled New project hour alert.
